CAPE MENTELLE TWILIGHT MOVIES, SUMMER 2010
Margaret River in Western Australia is rightly famous for its wines, but Cape
Mentelle vineyards is adding a new attraction to its vineyards with a season of
seven carefully selected movies (assisted by Urban Cinefile’s Editor) for
patrons to enjoy on the big outdoor screen.
This year’s program more than doubles last year’s tentative launch of the
twilight movies concept at Cape Mentelle, spurred on by the huge public
response. The vineyard theatre can accommodate 380 people and the $25 entrance
includes the feature movie and a supporting short; patrons are encouraged to
bring a picnic basket and children under 15 are free (subject to the rating and
must be accompanied by an adult).
Doors open at 5.30pm, with screenings starting at 8.00pm.
Book at the cellar door, or online:
Sat. Jan 2: The Marriage of Figaro
Fri, Jan 8: About a Boy
Sat. Jan 23: A Film With Me In It
Sat. Feb 13: Taking Woodstock
Sat. April 3: The General
Sat. April 10: Chocolat
The program this year includes the silent classic The General, which will be
accompanied by a live band, and two recent Australian films, The Marriage of
Fiagro and Stone Bros, as well as the delicious Chocolat, the hilarious Irish
black comedy, A Film With Me In It, Ang Lee’s marvellous recreation of the
backstory to the iconic music festival, Woodstock, and one of Hugh Grant’s best
roles (Toni Collette is pretty good, too) in About a Boy.
And in What About Me, filmmakers Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto, set off around the world to create the biggest global music jam in history. The journey across 50 locations features interviews with some of the world’s leading actors and greatest thinkers of our day, and some of the most interesting unsung heroes they meet, weaving original musical collaborations with soul-searching conversations and stunning imagery.
