Mary Sum Says: With an onslaught of special effects, The Avengers: Age of Ultron breaks box office records to become the third largest opening weekend of all time with $15,700,805 on 760 screens, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 with $18,364,584 on 758 screens and Twilight Saga: New Moon with $16,109,479 on 530 screens. It overtakes The Dark Knight Rises, which is now in 5th place with $15,107,438. Fast and Furious 7 is now at 6th spot with its opening weekend figures of $14,620,741 on 507 screens. Other first releases: Banksy Does New York (Madman; M; $33,369 on 6 screens). Total gross for the top 20 films last weekend was up 36% to $21,734,043. Average per screen for the top 20 was $6,704. #Figures in [brackets] indicate number of screens and average; takings are in Aus dollars.
